Vietnam is a country with abundant sources of renewable energy, from wind power to solar power with the number can reach tens of thousands to a hundred thousand MW. While the amount of biomass energy in Vietnam in 2015 reached 58 millions TOE, and is expected to reach 70 millions TOE in 2030 and 88 millions TOE in 2050.
Along with the increase in the amount of renewable enery produced is the rise in the need for labor force. To meet the need of qualified human resource in renewable energy industry, in recent years, several Universities in Vietnam have opened Faculties which provide intensive education about renewable energy. Some Universities recommended including: Hanoi University of Science and Technology; Electric Power University; VNU University of Engineering and Technology; University of Science and Technology of Hanoi; Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology; Bach Khoa University,…
University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) is the pioneer in Vietnam provides from bachelor degree to PHD in Renewable Energy. In 2010, USTH’s Faculty of Energy started to enroll the first class with two majors which are: Green Electricity and Biological Energy. USTH’s Faculty of Energy provides a training program sticking to the practical needs of companies and firms; with tight cooperation with well-known domestic and international organizations in the field of renewable energy, such as: Artelia Group, GreenID Vietnam, G2Elab (Grenoble Alpes University), Touluse III University,… Studying in USTH’s Faculty of Energy gives students plenty of chances to experience and have access to novel technology and knowledgein the field of technology.
From 2018, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Eduction had started enrollment for Faculty of Renewable Energy. Students are oriented to resolve intensive problems relate to renewable energy, develop working such as forming ideas, designing, deploying and operating different systems of renewable energy suiting social needs.
Renewable energy is one major of Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City which provides students with intensive theory about renewable energy and energy saving; along with practical knowledge about renewable energy devices.
In general, study renewable energy help students develop their knowledge in multiple subject of natural science, the base knowledge in electrical engineering and energy, operating different types of renewable energy, establish and manage renewable energy project,… After graduating, students can work in the field of energy as well as electicity with a variety of choices from state agencies to foreign companies investing in renewable energy project, especially clean renewable energy in Vietnam, or continue their study with scholarship of renewable energy.
