VIETNAM: HOW DOES VIETNAM USE ENERGY THAT ARE FORMS OF FOSSIL FUELS
From prehistory, our forefathers relied on extremely simple types of energy: human muscle, animal muscle, and the burning of biomass such as wood or crops. However, the Industrial Revolution ushered in a completely new source of energy: fossil fuels. And fossil fuels have
become one of the most essential energy sources in recent years. This article will present what fossil fuels are and what function fossil fuels play in Vietnam.
Fossil fuels are created by decomposing plants and animals that lived millions of years ago. These fuels, which can be found in the Earth’s crust and contain carbon and hydrogen, can be burned to generate energy. Oil, natural gas and coal are example of fossil fuels
Coal is a crucial energy source and a cornerstone in worldwide energy production. Plant remnants are used to make this type of fuel. Coal has more advantages than other fossil sources energy because it is easy to mine, process, trade and transport. It is also referred to as “black gold” and it is used with the most prevalent application being as the primary raw material in thermal power plants to generate electricity. Moreover, this type of fossil fuels is used to power steam engines, locomotives and other machinery, with kerosene being used to power steam engines. In Vietnam, the majority cold reserves are concentrated in Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Bac Can, Song Da, Song Ca, the Red River Delta and Na Duong with larger mines being explored and used. According to a survey, demand for oil for power plants is rising but it is completely acceptable for developing countries: electricity demand, level coal use, the role of coal in ensuring our country’s energy security, and stability with the global development trend of coal and coal-fired power plants.
Natural gas is made of plankton that has been buried in the ground and has been exposed to higher temperatures and pressure than petroleum. Since it is primarily made up of methane, the lightest of the hydrocarbons, it is cleaner and less polluting. People use natural gas to burn oil rigs because it was considered as a useless product of the oil extraction process but it has become an essential resource. In the last decade, liquid natural gas (LNG) has grown in popularity as a cleaner alternative to coal, and there are significant plans to increase its use globally and Vietnam meet the requirement of LNG in the world so that Vietnam transits into LNG importer. However, after COP26, Vietnam has faced the challenge of the future of LNG from other nations because LNG power plants are huge and complex, necessitating intermodal transportation infrastructure. Despite a number of obstacles, LNG will play an important role in Vietnam’s transition to net zero gold.
Oil is made up plankton that has been buried for millennia and has been transformed to oil by great heat and high pressure from deep within the earth. Crude oil is a complex mixture of hundreds of molecules, mostly hydrogen and carbon compounds. Crude oil is valuable because it can be processed into commonplace items like gasoline, diesel, and a variety of other petrochemicals. Another reason it is valued is that it is a non-renewable energy source with a limited supply, making it a finite resource.Vietnam is a net exporter of crude oil, primarily to other Southeast Asian countries, but a net importer of petroleum products. Vietnam has two operating refineries: Dung Quat and Nghi Son. Vietnam’s state owned Vietnam Oil & Gas Corporation (PetroVietnam) is the industry’s major operator and regulator in the oil and natural gas sectors. PetroVietnam has created collaborations with international oil corporations (IOCs) such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, BP, and Zarubezhneft, as well as various Asian national oil companies.
